POLICE LOG: Rash of BB Gun Vandalism Reports

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Nov. 16 – At 7:36 a.m., a Salem Street resident reported a broken car window. Police believe a BB pellet or a small rock caused the damage.

At 9:40 a.m., police responded to Washington Street for a report of a shattered glass door. According to police, a BB pellet likely damaged the door sometime overnight. Police reported that several vandalism incidents involving BB pellets were reported Friday.

At 1:41 p.m., a Winn Street woman reported her business’s front door was broken overnight. Police believe the door was hit by a BB pellet.

Nov. 16 –

At 8:57 a.m., police responded to the Red Roof Inn for a report of a motor vehicle break-in. According to police, a New Jersey woman found her car window broken and her cell phone charger, GPS and other items stolen.

At 9:05 a.m., a Woburn man reported his car tires slashed overnight.

At 9:36 a.m., police were called to a two-car accident on Beach Street at Memorial Drive.

At 10:57 a.m., a Woburn woman reported the possible violation of a harassment protection order. According to police, the victim said that another woman had posted a message about her on Facebook. Police report there is an ongoing issue between the women.

At 11:10 a.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident on Lexington Street at Willow. According to police, the cars collided in the intersection and needed to be towed from the scene. One driver was taken to Winchester Hospital with minor injuries. The other driver was cited for failure to yield at an intersection.

At 12:07 p.m., a Woburn man reported his car’s back window was smashed and pulled up from the door on both sides. The man told police that the car was unlocked and nothing was taken.

At 4:25 p.m., a Woburn woman reported she was threatened by another woman. Police advised the woman on how to obtain a harassment protection order in court.

At 4:55 p.m., police were called to a Main Street building for a report of a fight. According to police, three men were arguing heatedly in the building after a physical fight outside. Police reported that a man had broken up the physical fight, which led to the verbal argument inside. None of the involved parties wished to press charges, said police.

At 6:10 p.m., a Merrimac Street resident reported her unlocked car was entered and items were stolen, including a portable wifi connector. Another unlocked car was also entered and a GPS was stolen, said police.

At 7:56 p.m., police responded to Main Street near Ashburton for an accident. According to police, a deer ran out in front of the car and was hit. The deer ran into the woods after being struck. The driver reported visible damage to the vehicle, but was able to drive it away.

Nov. 17 –

At 11:38 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Washington and Salem streets. According to police, a driver stated her brakes failed and she was unable to stop her vehicle before it rear-ended another car. Police said the rear brake line had failed and fluid was gone from the system.

At 2:34 p.m., a Woburn man reported his car vandalized, including damage to the tires and scratches on the doors, trunk and hood.

At 3:06 p.m., Michael Kenneth Russell, 30, of 171 Old Cambridge Road, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle after the right to drive had been suspended. According to police, a caller reported a car stolen from Harrison Avenue. Police located the car, which Russell was driving back to Harrison Avenue. The caller told police that he did not wish to pursue charges on the stolen vehicle. Police looked up Russell and found that he did not have a license. He was taken into custody on that charge, said police.

At 5:40 p.m., police were called to a two-car accident on Mishawum Road at Industrial. According to police, there were no reported injuries. One driver was cited for failure to yield to the right of way.

At 6:19 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Main Street. According to police, one driver rear-ended another as the driver was waiting to take a turn. One person was taken to Lahey Clinic with head pain.

At 9:23 p.m., a Burlington man reported his car damaged while parked on Main Street. Whoever hit the car fled the scene, said police.

Nov. 18 –

At 11:19 a.m., a Porter Street man reported his lawn damaged by an unknown vehicle overnight.
