POLICE LOG: Smashing Pumpkins Cause Damage

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Featured Call of the Day:

Nov. 1 – At 9:08 a.m., a Dorchester man reported his car vandalized overnight while parked on Houghton Street. According to police, the car was damaged by a large pumpkin thrown at the windshield, causing the window to shatter. Police believe the pumpkin was thrown someone in a moving vehicle. Police also noted that several smashed pumpkins were found in the area.

Nov. 1 –

At 11:47 a.m., a 32-year-old Brighton man was summonsed to Woburn District Court for uttering a counterfeit note. According to police, an officer was dispatched to Market Basket at the Woburn Mall for a report of a person passing a fake $20 bill. Police spoke to the Brighton man who returned the merchandise and change he received from the store for the fake money.

At 3 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Washington Street. According to police, both cars were turning left onto Washington Street and collided. There were no reported injuries and neither car was towed from the scene, said police.

At 4:08 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident in the Common Street rotary. According to police, a tractor trailer hit a car as it was turning in the rotary. The car had moderate damage to its passenger side, taillight and bumper, said police.

At 7:31 p.m., police were dispatched to a one-car accident on Common Street. According to police, a Tyngsborough man did not see the traffic island and struck it, hitting the flashing traffic light pole. All occupants of the vehicle declined medical attention, said police. The car was towed from the scene.
