POLICE LOG: Stolen Birthday Cake, Party Hats

An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. The arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 16 – At 1:37 p.m., police responded to a report of two female shoplifters at Stop & Shop on Elm Street. According to police, store employees saw two women exit the store without paying for several items, including a large personalized birthday cake, birthday cards, party hats, ice cream, candles and a large amount of food. When an employee stopped the women, they left their carriage in the store and ran to their car. With information from witnesses and store video surveillance, Woburn Police was able to identify the women and will summons them to Woburn District Court for shoplifting over $100. 

 

Other Incidents:

Aug. 16 –

At 4:59 p.m., police responded to a report of a two-car accident on Cambridge Road at Four Corners. According to police, one car struck another while attempting to change lanes.

At 5:48 p.m., Michael J. Ford, 55, of 11 Porter Road in Boxford, was arrested and charged with operating while under the influence of liquor (second offense). According to police, an officer responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Mishawum Road and Garden Terrace. While speaking to both operators, the officer began to observe that Ford was swaying from side to side and stumbling. Police found a bottle of vanilla vodka in Ford’s vehicle and asked him if he would perform field sobriety tests. The man declined and was placed in police custody. Police also found a can of Bud Light, still cold to the touch, in Ford’s vehicle. During booking, Ford agreed to a breathalyzer test, which he failed, reported police.
