POLICE LOG: Teen Arrested After Fleeing Crash

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Sept. 30 – At 6:26 p.m., a 16-year-old Woburn boy was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. According to police, the teen was involved in a single-car crash on Salem Street. Police reported the teen struck a utility pole, leaving several car parts behind, and fled the area. As officers were responding to the scene, a police sergeant observed the teen driving on Harrison Avenue and pulled the car over. Upon further investigation, the teen was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation. He was later released to his mother’s custody.

Sept. 28 –

At 4:36 p.m., police responded to a neighbor complaint on Green Street. According to police, one neighbor reported a resident was burning leaves on several occasions over the last few months. The resident told police that her neighbor approached her after she recently reported his fires to city officials. Police informed the woman on how to obtain a harassment protection order.

At 4:39 p.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident on Mishawum Road. According to police, one car braked suddenly, causing two cars to collided behind it. There were no reported injuries.

At 5:40 p.m., police were called to the Extended Stay Hotel for a report of an unwanted party. According to police, one man was seen arguing with two guests and a group of people outside in the parking lot. A hotel employee told the man she was going to call police and he fled the area. Police advised the hotel employee how to obtain a no trespass order.    

At 6:42 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Cambridge Road at Parker Street. According to police, one car rear-ended another. Both vehicles were able to drive away from the scene, said police. One driver was cited for following too closely.

At 7:54 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash in a Sylvan Road parking lot. According to police, both cars were traveling at low speeds.

At 8:15 p.m., a pedestrian was struck in the Woburn Mall parking lot, outside Market Basket. According to police, the man was not injured and refused medical treatment.   

Sept. 29 –

At 6:31 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident in the downtown Woburn rotary. According to police, there were no reported injuries.

At 9:37 a.m., police were called to a two-car accident on Pleasant Street. According to police, one car was exiting a blind driveway, when another car struck it. The driver said he was unable to stop in time due to wet pavement. There were no reported injuries.

At 10:22 a.m., police were dispatched to Inwood Drive for a report of a domestic dispute Friday night. According to police, a couple argued when a man tried to take her photo. The woman told police that the couple had a history of verbal abuse.

At 11:39 a.m., police responded to a two-car crash on the roadway area in front of Stop & Shop. According to police, one car collided with another as the car was passing another one the left.

At 3:07 p.m., a Russian businessman reported an accident on Cambridge Road. According to police, the man said he collided with a car as he was backing out of the gas station pump area. There were no reported injuries.

At 7:45 p.m., police responded to Forest Park Road for a report of larceny. According to police, a copper-colored, metal crane lawn ornament was stolen from a yard.  

Sept. 30 –

At 5:39 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a two-car accident on Montvale Avenue at Route 93. According to police, one car rear-ended another. The driver told police he was blinded by the sun.

At 6:21 p.m., police were called to Leonard Street for a report of a lost cell phone.
