POLICE LOG: Toddler Vandalizes Car, Apologizes to Police

An excerpt from the Woburn Police Department's July 29-31 police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

July 29 –

At 12:18 p.m., police responded to an Old Cambridge Road address for a report of threats made over the telephone. According to police, a resident received two voice mails saying that someone would beat him up and burn his vehicle.

At 1:30 p.m., a Church Avenue resident reported several items stolen from his apartment while he was out of town. According to police, an Xbox gaming system and controllers, games, and a necklace were stolen.

At 3:24 p.m., a Woburn woman was cited for making an unsafe lane change after police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Main Street.

At 4:34 p.m., a Woburn man was cited for operating a motor vehicle after license revocation (subsequent offense) after police observed the man driving a scooter on a public way without a helmet. According to police, the man said he thought he didn’t need a license to operate a scooter, but police informed him that he did.

At 4:40 p.m., police were called to the Red Roof Inn after a man reported he was being held against his will in the bathroom. According to police, the man said he met a woman online and asked to meet her in her hotel room “for a little fun.” The man told officers that the woman began “quoting prices” and he locked himself in the bathroom. The woman allegedly held a coathanger and would not let him leave, the man told police. The woman told police that she did not want a physical relationship with the man and asked him to leave, disputing his story.

At 4:41 p.m., a Salem Street man reported an unknown person fraudulently used his identity to open an NStar account for a property in East Boston.

At 5:21 p.m., Nicole Marie Derosa, 32, of 13 Brantwood Lane in Burlington, was arrested and charged with shoplifting more than $100 worth of merchandise by concealment and two outstanding warrants. According to police, Derosa was taken into custody after police received a report of a woman shoplifting at TJ Maxx at the Woburn Mall. Police said that the merchandise totaled about $116 and included shirts, pants, a bra and several pairs of panties.  

At 8:45 p.m., police were called to a domestic disturbance on Bedford Terrace. According to police, there was a problem with a 19-year-old and 21-year-old being “disrespectful” and “not complying to the rules of the house.” Police spoke to all members of the family and settled the situation for the evening.

July 30 –

At 1:28 a.m., police responded to a report of an unwanted party on Mishawum Road. According to police, a neighbor threw “something” through a resident’s window, causing it to break. The resident told police that she wanted the neighbor off of the property.

At 7:58 a.m., a Chestnut Street woman reported her car damaged while it was parked on the street overnight.

At 10:30 a.m., a Woburn woman reported her car damaged while it was parked in the Stop & Shop parking lot.

At 11:03 p.m., a Woburn man reported a woman had sent him 55 harassing text messages to his phone.

At 11:09 a.m., police were called to the Red Roof Inn after an employee cut her hand. According to police, a mirror popped off the wall and cut the woman’s hand. The woman did require stitches, but went to the hospital on her own.

At 2:08 p.m., Romulo de Lima, 26, of 91 Winn St. Apt. #R, was arrested and charged with assault and battery (domestic) after police received information from the Boston Police Department regarding an incident that happened in Woburn earlier in the week.

At 2:15 p.m., Edwin D. Mahoney, 39, homeless, was arrested and charged with assault and battery (domestic), assault and battery and vandalism of property. Police said Mahoney allegedly assaulted two people, threw a baby carriage, a lamp and ripped the blinds from a window before fleeing the scene. Mahoney was taken into custody after police found him walking down Main Street.  

At 3:18 p.m., police received a report of a threat made against a landlord via a former tenant’s friend. The tenant told police that there would be no more confrontations.

At 5:17 p.m., a Woburn boy reported his bicycle stolen from the field next to the White School. According to police, the boy was collecting baseballs on the field when he saw a group of boys take his bike.

At 9:52 p.m., police spoke to three Marblehead teens after a witness saw them near an old fire engine on the Royal Towing lot on North Maple Street. According to police, the teens said they were following the sound of loud music when they got lost. The teens said they saw the old fire truck and were “intrigued.” Police asked them to leave the property, which they did.

At 11:26 p.m., police responded to a report of a harassment protection order violation at the St. Anthony’s Club.

July 31 –

At 3:45 a.m., police found a backpack at Horn Pond that contained two bags of marijuana and a scale. According to police, officers were unable to find the owner of the backpack. The bag was seized by officers.

At 5:52 a.m., police responded to King Gas on Main Street after a Woburn man rolled his car into the fence at the station. The car and the fence were both minimally damaged, said police.

At 7:47 a.m., a Middleton business reported a truck parked on Montvale Avenue was vandalized overnight. According to police, an officer found approximately 30 beer cans in the back of the truck, as well as evidence of a fire that burned through some material in the truck bed.

At 10:29 a.m., police responded to Montvale Avenue for a report of three vehicles vandalized overnight. According to police, some of the tires on the cars were let out and it appeared someone urinated on the porch.

At 11:03 a.m., a man reported his wallet stolen from his parked vehicle at the Anderson Regional Transportation Center on July 29. According to police, the man said he locked his doors, but had left a window open, while he was out of the car for 15 minutes. Cash, a Social Security card, driver’s license and credit card were stolen.

At 5:54 p.m., Nicholas Adam Evans, 23, homeless, was arrested and charged on an outstanding warrant after police received a report of two unwanted parties at the Red Roof Inn. Evans was taken into custody by police at the Woburn Mall.

At 7:37 p.m., police investigated a report of a car vandalized on Webster Avenue. Police received information from witnesses stating that a three-year-old Webster Avenue resident climbed on top of the car and hit the hood with a plastic broom cover. The responding officer said he did see “small clear footprints on the hood.” Police spoke to the boy’s father who said he would keep his son away from vehicles. The officer spoke to the toddler, who apologized for damaging the car.
