Police Log: Woburn Company Reports Scammer Cloned Website

Monday, March 24

At 10:08 a.m., police responded to a Salem Street business about a report of identity theft/cloned website. The business’ owner told police that someone started a cloned website using most of her company’s information. The phone number, fax number and email address were different, but everything else was the same, including the company name, photo and address. The company’s IT person believes the page was created overseas. She is concerned that someone may be attempting to scam her customers. Police are investigating and suggested to the business owner that she contact the Attorney General’s Office.

At 5:09 p.m., police responded to Mishawum Road and Garden Terrace about a two-car accident. A car on Mishawum Rod struck a vehicle that was turning onto the street. There was moderate to major damage to one vehicle. There were no reported injuries and neither car was towed.

At 7:23 p.m., police arrested Asher Michael Ellyon, 27, 4 Winn Park, Apt. A, Woburn, and charged him on two warrants for failing to stop/yield and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license. Police were aware of the warrants because of an earlier call at Crown Plaza Hotel. Officers went to Ellyon’s home to serve the warrants, but the Woburn man said he wasn’t leaving. He reportedly swore and yelled at police, but police were able to place Ellyon into custody.
