Police Log: Woburn Resident Reports Being Scammed

At 10:09 a.m., police arrested Peter Kikis, 20, 1045 5th Ave., 86th St., Apt. 14, New York, NY, and Andrew R. Lack, 19, 1000 McQueen Dr., Apt. 12307, Durham, NC, and charged them on warrants for being a minor in possession of liquor.

At 12:05 p.m., police responded to Washington Street and Montvale Avenue after a bicyclist was struck by a car. The bicyclist was taken to Lahey Clinic complaining of shoulder pain. Witnesses told police that the bicyclist was taking a left and did not use hand signals before being struck.

At 1:23 p.m., a Woburn resident reported identity fraud. She said that someone used her social security number to open Comcast and NStar accounts. Both companies called her to say she owed money.

At 5:44 p.m., a Ward Street resident reported that cars were egged and a tire was slashed. He identified possible suspects.

At 5:49 p.m., police arrested Rodrick A. Joslin, 57, 80A Sheridan St., Woburn, and charged him with domestic assault and battery.

At 5:50 p.m., a Woburn resident reported being scammed by an alleged loan company. She received an email from a company called Cashnet USA saying that she was approved for a $5,000 loan. She called the company and they told her to send a $250 processing fee along with her date of birth, social security number, and bank account and routing number. She was told to send the money through a Green Dot Money Pak Card. The resident was later told to add more deposits. Police spoke to a person with the company, who said the company is legitimate and needed the money for transaction fees. Police told the employee that they appear to be a scam and what they’re doing is illegal. Police told the woman who was scammed to call her bank and cancel her bank account.

At 6:53 p.m., a South Bedford Street resident reported that his son’s neon orange Mongoose bicycle was stolen from in front of his garage.

At 10:42 p.m., police placed an intoxicated 42-year-old Ilion, NY, man into protective custody after a report of a man bothering a woman at Best Western Hotel.
