At 10:37 a.m., police responded to Union Street about an oil spill. A resident hired a handyman to perform work around the house and yard. The handyman and his crew was bringing a 30-gallon plastic container from a truck into a basement when the container ripped and oil spread about 125 feet down Union Street. It did not go into a water drain. The Fire Department, Mass DEP and a Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup responded to the scene. A cleanup firm also arrived and cleaned up the spill.
At 11:29 p.m., police arrested Maurice Arthur Morris, 23, 5 Hancock St., Apt. 31, Everett, and charged him on a warrant for armed assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
