Police Log: Woburn Woman Charged With Shoplifting at Kohl’s

Monday, May 5

At 10:37 a.m., police responded to Union Street about an oil spill. A resident hired a handyman to perform work around the house and yard. The handyman and his crew was bringing a 30-gallon plastic container from a truck into a basement when the container ripped and oil spread about 125 feet down Union Street. It did not go into a water drain. The Fire Department, Mass DEP and a Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup responded to the scene. A cleanup firm also arrived and cleaned up the spill.

At 11:29 p.m., police arrested Maurice Arthur Morris, 23, 5 Hancock St., Apt. 31, Everett, and charged him on a warrant for armed assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Police made the arrest after the Middlesex County Superior Court said Medford detectives had Morris under arrest at the courthouse. Police transported him to the Woburn Police Station to book the man before he was transported to Medford.

At 3:06 p.m., police arrested Elaine Theresa Gargano, 53, 79C Montvale Ave., Apt. 1, Woburn, and charged her with shoplifting by concealing merchandise more than $100 and trespassing. Police responded to Kohl’s about a shoplifter. Gargano reportedly entered a changing room with a white dress and white tank top, but left the room without the items. Security stopped her as the Woburn woman was leaving the store and found the items in her purse. Kohl’s told police that there is a no trespass order against Gargano because of a 2011 shoplifting incident.
