POLICE LOG: Woman Refuses Tierney Signs, Brown Signs Later Stolen

Oct. 9 – At 6:26 p.m., a Cambridge Road woman reported that her Scott Brown for Senate signs were stolen from her front lawn. According to police, the woman also reported that she spoke to two men who had entered her driveway and claimed to be political candidate John Tierney. The woman told police the man claiming to be Tierney asked to put a sign on her lawn and she refused. The Scott Brown signs were stolen later that day, said police.

Oct. 9 –

At 11:05 a.m., a Woburn woman was cited for operating an unregistered motor vehicle while driving on Main Street.

At 12:03 p.m., a Woburn woman reported a check was stolen, photocopied and later forged and cashed. According to police, the woman left a check at a Malden funeral home during a wake. The check did not reach its intended recipient, said police. The check was photocopied and filled out by an unknown person, who later cashed it for $2,000. The woman has filed a report with her bank, said police.

At 1:08 p.m., Anthony S. Mondi, 19, of 12 School St., was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and possession with intent to distribute a Class D substance (marijuana). According to police, Mondi was driving a green vehicle on Salem Street. Police learned that the license plate was registered to a red vehicle and pulled him over. Mondi told police he did not have an explanation for the discrepancy. After a records check, Mondi was taken into custody for operating under a suspended license. When police spoke to his passenger, the officer smelled and observed marijuana in the vehicle. Police found bags of marijuana in a mason jar in the car. Mondi told police that he was going on vacation and was taking it with him. Mondi was taken into custody and booked at Woburn Police.

At 1:28 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash in the Stop & Shop parking lot. According to police, no one was injured.

At 3:38 p.m., a Woburn woman reported her credit card information was used without her permission. According to police, someone made fraudulent purchases totaling $2,500 between July and September. The last purchase was at Stop & Shop in Woburn, said police.

At 3:56 p.m., a Woburn woman reported a protection order violation. According to police, a man emailed the woman in violation of the order. The 54-year-old Shrewsbury man has been summonsed to Woburn District Court for the abuse prevention order violation, said police.

At 5:40 p.m., a Woburn man was cited for failure to stop for a stop sign at Johnson and Plympton streets. 

At 7:57 p.m., a 31-year-old Woburn man was severely injured in a pedestrian accident at Washington and Erie streets. .
