Police Safely Escort Woman Having Panic Attack With Sword in Vehicle

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account.

Featured Incident 

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. police were dispatched to 95 South for a report of a woman having a panic attack with two knives on her person in an SUV near the Washington Street exit.

Upon arrival police found the SUV pulled over with the driver’s side door open. The officer approached the vehicle and observed the woman, who said she was just discharged from McLean Hospital in Belmont. She said she was having a panic attack and felt like she could not drive.

The woman had a knife on the dashboard and a sword in her back seat. The officer at the scene safely escorted her out of the vehicle to the side of the highway where the Woburn Fire Department had just arrived.

The sword and the steak knife were removed from the vehicle for the woman’s safety.

Additional Incident

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, at about 6:03 p.m., an officer was called to Salem Street for a report of fraud.

The resident said he received a phone call from Bank of America asking him if he had authorized a $6,000 electronic transfer to a woman in Ohio. The resident said he had not authorized it and didn’t know anyone by the name.

Police were told the man did not have any suspects who might have been responsible for the incident.
