Featured Incident

Police were called to Sports Authority on Sunday, Nov. 3, for a shoplifting incident that was in progress at the time of the call.

The Assistant Manager told responding officers that a man and woman were seen attempting to steal merchandise. The woman was carrying a coat when she was confronted by another employee as she was about to leave the store.

The employee asked the woman if the World Series items in her large pocketbook were stolen, and she said they were not. As the employee confronted the woman, she began yelling to the male and they left the store.

After being signaled, the man took off several layers of stolen merchandise, which can be seen in security footage. As security followed the suspects, another man got out of a car and said "I want nothing to do with this, they probably stole stuff," according to police.

That man can then be seen on video walking away dribbling a basketball, which police later learn was stolen also.

On video, the suspects are seen walking into the store and the woman immediately kneels down at a display that the employee said was Red Sox World Series merchandise. The two men walk further into the store.

The two men walk around the store taking jackets and other clothing items off the racks, and at one point the woman places a baseball hat on her head. A short time later, the heavier man walks out and takes a basketball out from underneath his sweatshirt.

A razor blade was found in the dressing room, and feathers were on the floor. One of the stolen jackets was recovered and the security tags had been cut and removed.

Employees totaled the items that were stolen, and they were valued at $1,138.96.
