Featured Incident

On Monday, Jan. 13, at about 1 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the Rome Garden Apartment building on Cambridge Street for a complaint by one resident against another.

Officers were met on scene by a man who told them about an incident that occurred on Saturday, Jan. 4, in the common laundry room of the building.

According to the resident, an item of his clean laundry had been taken from his basket and returned covered in excrement. The man said there was only one other person in the room at the time, and he was identified to officers.

The man was familiar to both other residents of the building and police alike due to strange behavior and disturbances due to mental health issues.

The calling party told police that the man wasn't in the room the entire time and he can't be 100 percent certain that he was the one who committed the act.

Police were not informed of the incident at the time, but the caller said that after speaking with other residents and then the property manager, he became aware that similar incidents have occurred with the man being the suspected perpetrator.

The man was informed that a report would be forwarded documenting the incident.
