93N Closed After Early Morning Fatal Crash

Mass State Police investigate single-car crash.

An Everett man was killed early this morning in a single-car crash on Route 93 North near the Woburn city line.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, 35-year-old Oscar Lopez's car left the roadway and struck a rock ledge near Exit 36 at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

The accident caused severe damage to the front of the vehicle, and Lopez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered traumatic injuries, said MSP Spokesman Dave Procopio.

Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The right travel lane and breakdown lane at the crash scene were closed for about two hours during the crash investigation, said state police.

MSP Troop A is investigating what caused Lopez's vehicle to leave the road, along with the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

Troopers on scene were assisted by the Stoneham Fire Department and the state Department of Transportation.
