Four people were taken to the hospital and one driver was detained on suspicion of drunk driving following a four-car accident on Route 93 Sunday night. The accident was initially reported as being in Woburn, but State Police later said the accident occured in Stoneham.
The accident occurred shortly before 9 p.m., police said.
According to the MSP, "preliminary reports indicate a wrong-way operator is the cause of the crash and several persons have been injured."
The accident reportedly occurred at the Montvale Avenue exit.
Those injured were taken to Winchester Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed for approximately one half-hour to clear the highway of cars and debris, according toh the statement.
State Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
