State Police Identify Victim in Fatal Route 93 Crash

Massachusetts State Police said the man killed in the Route 93 crash in Woburn on Tuesday morning was a Westwood resident.

The crash took place at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday near the Commerce Way exit on Route 93 North. Police said a 2013 Toyota Corolla, driven by Xudong Yang, 57, of Westwood, left the marked travel lane and collided with a commercial box truck, which sent both vehicles into the guardrail. The box truck rolled over the guardrail, said State Police.

Yang suffered fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the box truck, a 34-year-old man from South Dartmouth, suffered minor injuries and did not need transportation to a hospital.

Police are unsure why Yang’s vehicle left the lane and crashed into the truck.

State Police said the accident remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police, State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services, State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section and Middlesex District Attorney's Office.
