SWAT Team Called in After Armed Woburn Man Makes Threats

The Woburn man had a loaded AR-15 assault rifle.

Woburn Police needed to wear body armor and called in the NEMLEC SWAT team after an armed man made threats on Sunday night.

Police responded to a disturbance call involving a firearm on Lakeview Terrace. Police arrived and asked the man to show his hands, but he ran inside the house. Police saw the man was carrying a long firearm and called for backup. Officers put on additional body armor and set up a perimeter.

An officer spoke to Jason Rodriguez, 39, 7 Lakeview Terrace, Apt. 5, Woburn, via phone. The Woburn man said he felt threatened by the officers and he made threats toward them.

Woburn called in the NEMLEC SWAT team, which decided to enter the residence and quickly placed Rodriguez into custody.

Police found an AR-15 assault rifle in the living room along with several large capacity magazines filled with ammunition, according to police.

Police charged Jason Rodriguez, 39, 7 Lakeview Terrace, Apt. 5, Woburn, with selling/possessing assault weapons, illegally possessing ammunition and threatening to commit a crime.
