Two Men Arrested in Separate Assault Incidents

An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

July 29-

At 11 p.m. police arrested Brian Gilbert, 30, of Woburn, on charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The arrest was made after police responded to a domestic incident at his residence and his spouse said that they had a verbal argument and Gilbert, while intoxicated, destroyed things in the apartment. She also said that on July 27 he had assaulted her by choking her and had thrown a fan that hit her in the abdomen. Police spoke to Gilbert after getting the report and he admitted to the assault.

July 30-

At 12:25 a.m. police arrested Kevin Carney, 53, of Woburn, on a charge of assault and battery. The arrest was made after police responded to a domestic disturbance. Arrest made after a fight with a son.

At 8:50 a.m. a man flagged down police on Belmont Street to report a theft from a motor vehicle. The man said that sometime over the weekend someone entered his unlocked Toyota Camry that was parked in the driveway and stole two GPS units. His wallet was also stolen and he lost his driver’s license, social security card and multiple bank/debit cards. The wallet had been in the glove box.

The man said none of the cards had been used.

There had been a string of car break-ins in the area over the weekend.

Later that day the man called police and said he found the GPS units in the tall grass down the street. The items were entered as evidence.
