Original Story: State Police are encouraging drivers on I-93 North to seek alternate routes on Tuesday morning as a large amount of debris is cleaned up after a crash near Exit 40.

According to initial scanner reports, including one by Twitter user Mike Moura, just before 11 a.m. an accident left an 18-wheeler overturned with the driver pinned inside.

The truck was reportedly filled with trash, which was spread across the roadway when it overturned.

Shortly after the crash, Massachusetts State Police tweeted confirming the crash. Police said the Massachusetts Department of Transportation was en route and that three lanes on I-93 were closed.

As a result, State Police expected a significant traffic impact. Highway signs were updated all the way back into Boston to alert drivers to seek alternate routes if possible.

Moura reported that the tractor trailer spilled about 94,000 pounds of trash and that police have also closed the ramp to I-93 at Concord Street.
