Woburn Emergency Crews Remove American Flag from Burning Building

An American Flag at the Morse Street home was removed from harms way by Woburn fire and police members.

The fire on at 10-14 Morse Street on Wednesday was put out before there was much external damage to the three-family house.

Fortunately nobody was injured and emergency crews were able to put out the fire before it spread.

However, before anyone knew the fire would be stamped down, Woburn emergency responders took a few seconds to remove and American Flag from harms way.

This picture, sent in by reader Ben Pershouse, shows Woburn Sgt. Edward Jolly removing an American Flag from the building as fire crews battled the blaze.

Jolly told Woburn Patch that he and Sgt. Tim Donovan were at the scene early and they noticed the flag.

"We said we should get the flag out of there," he said. "We didn't want it to get burned."

Jolly said they pointed out the flag to firefighters who removed it from the building and handed it off to the officers. Jolly said they brought gave it to one of the building's residents for safekeeping.
