Woburn Man Allegedly Pretends to be Lost, Watches as Crews Search

A Woburn man will undergo a mental-health evaluation after being held on bond for a Lynn incident.

Multiple officers searched through the woods in frigid temperatures recently for a Woburn man who allegedly said he was lost and in danger, but instead was watching the search from a nearby hotel room in Saugus.

According to a report in the Daily Item in Lynn, Stephen M. Cornwall, 59, of 171 Old Cambridge Road, was charged with making a false 911 report last week. He was held on a $1,500 personal surety bond and a judge ordered a mental-health evaluation, according to the Daily Item.

The newspaper reported that Cornwall told 911 dispatch that he was "freezing to death" and as a result a crew of police and firefighters searched the woods while Cornwall "had a front-row seat of all the emergency activity that was happening."
