Featured Incident

On Monday, Jan. 20, at 9:02 a.m. police responded to Rehabilitation Way for medical aide.

Upon arrival, an officer was informed that a person had fallen from the outside roof of the building through a skylight and onto the floor of a seventh floor stairwell.

An ambulance was called to the scene. The man was treated on scene to stabilize and potentially serious injuries and was transported to Lahey Clinic.

It appeared that the victim, an employee of a masonry company, was doing waterproofing on the exterior brick siding of the building. At that point he apparently caught his right foot on the corner of the skylight, causing him to stumble.

The skylight shattered underneath him, and he fell into the stairwell.

It is not known exactly when the man fell or if he lost consciousness for any period of time. The man's employer reported that he sent them a text message at about 8:55 a.m. that said "help" and asked them to call 911.

The employer did eventually call 911, but firefighters had already been called after employees of the building heard the man screaming for help through the closed fire door of the stairwell.
