Arlington Resident Collecting Signatures for Congressional Bid

See who's trying to run for Senator Ed Markey's former House seat.

Written by John Waller

Arlington resident Martin Long, an entrepreneur and political scientist, has been collecting signatures, mostly on Broadway Plaza, to get on the 5th Congressional primary ballot as a Democrat.

Long, who’s currently working on a book about Republican Party discourse, has a website BornAgainDemocrat.com. He describes himself as having the “heart of a liberal, mind of a progressive” on the website.

He said he believes he is the only non-professional politician running, and, even though he admits his chances of winning are slim, he hopes to add a new voice in the race.

Long must collect 2,000 signatures by Wednesday, July 31, in order to get on the primary ballot.
