Commission Raises Concern About Police Activity at Club

The issue involves recent police incidents at the South End Independent Italian Club, which concerned the Woburn License Commission.

Concerned about police activity at the South End Independent Italian Club, the Woburn License Commission tabled two special permits to serve alcohol at upcoming pig roasts in July and August.

The Daily Times Chronicle reported that commission members voiced concern about police calls to the club, including a fight between two women outside the SEIIC that led to a broken window and resulted in a later arrest in Winchester.

The SEIIC and a police liaison said the fight “had nothing to do with the club,” reported the Times Chronicle.

License Commissioner Thomas Skeffington said the commission has tried to work with the SEIIC and added that members are supportive of the club.

The commission will discuss the matter further at its June 19 meeting.
