Help Woburn 'Take Root' By Voting Online

May 18—After just one month of voting, the city of Woburn is almost in the running for its own fruit orchard through the Communities Take Root program.

The city is 450 votes shy of fifth place.

A grassroots effort has sprung up online through e-mail and Facebook to keep Woburnites voting.

April 19—Woburn already has a thriving But wouldn't it be great if the city itself grew its own vegetables and fruit?

It could happen, if Woburn is able to gain enough votes in the Edy's Fruit Bars Communities Take Root & Fruit Tree Planting Foundation grant program.

According to Mayor Scott Galvin and the Woburn Agricultural Commission, the grant will provide—at no cost to the city—a fruit tree orchard, irrigation system, a groundbreaking party and plenty of Edy's Fruit Bars to celebrate the new orchard. 

Mayor Galvin and the Agricultural Commission are asking for the city's support by voting for the project every day on the www.CommunitiesTakeRoot.com website.

Woburn had 353 votes as of Wednesday afternoon, but needs many more to jump into the top leaders list. The current leader has over 1500 votes!

The Woburn Agricultural Commission urges residents to vote daily for "our project which will benefit the city of Woburn and surrounding communities as well as our environment."

3. Click the "List By State" tab.
4. Scroll to Massachusetts.
5. Choose Woburn Agricultural Commission.
6. Click "Vote."
