Mayor Proposing Splash Park at Leland Park

Mayor Scott Galvin is asking the City Council to approve $1.3 to pay for group work and construction.

Summer isn’t too far away. You wouldn’t know it by today's temperature, but we’ll soon need a way to cool off.

Mayor Scott Galvin is proposing a splash park at Leland Park. The plan, which will go before the City Council on Tuesday night, includes $1.3 million to pay costs for ground remediation at Leland Park and construction of the splash park.

Galvin got help in the planning from Girl Scout Troop 1545, which is performing merit badge work in helping with the new sprinkler park plan.

On his Facebook page, Mayor Galvin also thanked Recreation Director Rory Lindstrom and City Engineer Greg Rheaume for leading a recent meeting with the Girl Scouts in Galvin’s office.

"It was a productive and fun meeting that helped move our plans for the grant-funded sprinkler park closer to reality. Nice work!” wrote the mayor.
