Mayor Updates Aldermen on Water Meter Installation

Earlier this week, Mayor Scott Galvin told City Council that the project will get underway in April, according to the Daily Times Chronicle.

Mayor Scott Galvin told the City Council earlier this week that the water meter installation project at homes around the city will begin in April and last for about one year, according to a report in the Daily Times Chronicle.

According to the newspaper, Galvin said the water meter project bids came in between $1.3-$2 million less than expected. As a result, the cost is now estimated in the range of $3.3 mllion and $4 million when $6 million was the anticipated cost.

"We need to have a good game plan and execute it," said Department of Public Works Superintendent Jay Duran, according to the Times Chronicle. "In the end, I think we'll have a very good system for installing meters that's as painless as possible for the residents."
