Memorial Day Remembrances Planned for Woburn

Woburn will honor those who died in service to this country with Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 26 as well as other events over the next week-plus.

Parade marchers will assemble at the Rockland Trust on Main Street at 8 a.m. and the parade will kickoff at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26.

Here is the common and parade agenda from the Woburn Veterans Office:
Woburn Common - 8:45 a.m. 
• Posting of Colors – All Units 
• Flag Raising – Joe Limonciello, Dave Epps and James McLaughlin 
• Opening Prayer – Deacon Phil Hardcastle 
• Selection: Woburn City Band – Armed Service Melody sung by Joanne Campbell 
• Governor’s Proclamation – Read by WMHS student 
• Selection: Woburn Memorial High School Band 
• “God Bless America” sung by Joanne Campbell 
• Honor Roll: read by George Poole, Commander of the United Veteran’s Council 
• Comments by the City of Woburn Veteran’s Agent Larry Guiseppe

• Firing of volley by the Marine Corps League

In addition to the parade and ceremonies, here are other services and events honoring veterans in Woburn over the next week-plus:

  • Veterans speaking at Woburn Public Schools May 20-28. The Veterans Office is always looking for veterans to volunteer to speak at the school programs; if you are a veteran and interested in speaking at a future Veterans Day or Memorial Day program at a school, please contact the Veterans Office at 781.897.5825. 
  • Thursday, May 22 at noon: Veterans Services at the Woburn Senior Center, 144 School St. All are welcome to attend. 
  • Friday, May 23 at 10 a.m. Flags at Calvary Cemetery: If you would like to volunteer putting flags on graves with the George A. Campbell American Legion Post 101, please join them at the cemetery at 10 am. 
  • Saturday, May 24 at 10 a.m. Flags at Woodbrook Cemetery: If you would like to volunteer putting flags on graves with the VFW Post 543, please join them at the cemetery at 10 am. 
  • Sunday, May 25 Veterans Breakfast at 10:15 a.m.: Annual Memorial Day veterans breakfast at the Moose Lodge, 4 Federal St., Woburn
