Part of Montvale Avenue Could Become Five Lanes

A $250,000 design study will update a 2009 survey that would expand Montvale Avenue between Washington Street and Route 93.

A design study to look at widening Montvale Avenue in East Woburn will head before the City Council on Tuesday.

The councilโ€™s Finance Committee gave the OK for $250,000 to pay for the design study. The money would come from the Ward 5 Infrastructure Account, reported the Daily Times Chronicle.

The study would update a 2009 survey that was submitted to MassDOT to widen Montvale Avenue to five lanes between Washington Street and Route 93. The project could start in 2017.
