Sen. Clark to Kick-Off Congressional Campaign in Melrose Saturday

By Chris Caesar:

State Sen. Katherine Clark will kick-off her campaign for newly elected Sen. Ed Markey's now vacant congressional seat in Melrose Saturday morning.

She will be joined by Attorney General Martha Coakley, Mayor Robert Dolan along with other volunteers and supporters at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at Memorial Hall.

Clark, a Melrose native, will face a competitive field of candidates: Middlesex Country Sheriff Peter Koutoujian, State Rep. Carl Sciortino of Medord, State Sen. Will Brownsberger of Belmont and State Sen. Karen Spillka of Ashland are also running for the seat.

Clark declared her intention to run back in February, expressing confidence in a Markey victory that would leave an open seat in his wake.
