Some Residents May Be Charged for Water Meter Work

The Daily Times Chronicle reports that work will get underway in May.

Residents may be charged for the upcoming meter work in "limited instances" as the city-wide project will get underway in May, according to a report in the Daily Times Chronicle.

According to the newspaper, in instances where a home contains "substandard piping" or in cases where a resident's lawn must be dug up to reach certain equipment, residents could be responsible for paying for the labor.

In total, there will be about 10,000 water meters installed beginning in May, costing at least $3.6 million, according to the Times Chronicle. That number is lower, however, than the initially budgeted $6 million.
