Traffic Commission Considering Stop Sign, Pedestrian Safety

Among the items to be considered is a stop sign on Burlington Street and pedestrian safety at Woburn Center.

Woburn's Traffic Commission is scheduled to host a Thursday meeting inside Council Chamber at City Hall, taking on a variety of topics including stop signs, speed limits and pedestrian safety.

According to the meeting agenda, after opening the meeting at 4 p.m., board members will take up old business that includes the status of MassDOT review of a request for a 20 MPH speed limit on Cranes court and a report from the Handicapped Commission about a handicapped parking space on Foster Street.

Requests from City Council include a traffic mirror at the intersection of Vernon Street and Montvale Ave., a handicapped parking space on Richardson Street, a stop sign on Burlington Street at Brandt Drive and a speed limit change on Mountain Road.

In addition, citizen requests include a stop sign on Burlington Street at the Woburn/Burlington town line, a one-way restriction on Burlington Street, traffic calming measures on Montvale Ave. at Unicorn Park, and a review of pedestrian safety improvements in Woburn Center.

Finally on the agenda is the Commisioners' Items, which include a request for a pedestrian crossing button at Cambridge Road at Country Club Road and a request to review traffic signal timing at the intersection of Salem Street and Washington Street.
