Voter Registration Made Simple, Convenient

City Clerk has innovative idea for voter registration.

Do you still need to register to vote? The city of Woburn wants to make it easy for you.

City Clerk Bill Campbell is hosting a "drive-thru" voter registration event tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon for all Massachusetts residents.

Campbell and the Board of Registrars of Voters will be on hand to register residents in the Woburn City Hall parking lot. You won't even need to get out of your car!

The state's deadline to register to vote for the November presidential election is Oct. 17.

For more information on Saturday's "drive-thru" event, contact the Office of the City Clerk at (781) 897-5850.

While I applaud thinking outside the box. I can't believe people are so lazy they can't get out of their car to register to vote during the normal working hours. Why we have to pay overtime so these folks can register to vote is ridiculous.

Makes you wonder if drive- thru voting is in the works next doesn't it? This City loves throwing away money for overtime.

I have to say, while I don't know if the drive through concept is a motivating factor, a city office being available for interested voters on a Saturday is a GREAT motivating factor. I work out of town, so it is a struggle to get to City Hall during business hours, and with kids, evening hours don't make a difference for me. Good idea!

I agree--I think Saturday hours is the real win here. I'm amazed at how many government services are only available (in person) during a narrow set of "standard" work hours during the week.

The City Clerk's Office is open until 7:00 pm on Thursdays. I guess it comes down to how important it is for you to make the time. I work out of town too but the first thing I did when I moved here was make the time to register to vote and I make sure I vote in all elections. I'm tired of the whining that it's too hard. If it is worth doing, then you make the time.
