Which Communities Have the Most Expensive Car Insurance in Massachusetts?

ValuePenguin, a consumer finance website, recently ran the numbers to see which Massachusetts communities are paying the most and the least for auto insurance. 

The website analyzed rates for seven different driver profiles from 35 insurers and 179 communities across Massachusetts.

What they found was that the average cost of car insurance in Massachusetts is $1,347.

The most expensive community average is Brockton at $2,125, which is 58% higher than the state average.

Here are the 10 most expensive communities for auto insurance:

2. Chelsea

3. Revere

4. Lynn

5. Everett

6. Malden

7. Springfield

8. Boston

9. Randolph

10. Lawrence

 

The least expensive is Nantucket at $1,015, which is 25% less than the state average.

ValuePenguin said most of the cheapest places for auto insurance are just outside of Boston in the Metrowest and Merrimack Valley regions.

6. Medfield

7. Groton

Boston

Though ranked eighth most expensive, Boston has a wide variety of auto insurance averages. Here is the ranking from cheapest to most expensive average auto insurance for different Boston areas:

1. West Roxbury

2. Brighton

3. Boston Central

4. South Boston

5. Roslindale

6. Jamaica Plain

7. Hyde Park

8. East Boston/Charlestown
