Woburn Parkway Dedication This Afternoon

City celebrates 50th anniversary of acquisition.

 

The city will celebrate a historic milestone this afternoon at the Woburn Parkway.

A memorial dedication ceremony will be held today at 1 p.m. at the intersection of the Woburn Parkway and the Causeway leading to Well F, just north of Lions Park. The closest entry access is at Sturgis Street or across the Causeway between Horn Pond and the lagoon.

The memorial will recognize the city's acquisition of the Woburn Parkway 50 years ago. It will also recognize former Mayor John F. Gilgun, Jr., who advocated for special legislation that allowed the property acquisition.

Mayor Gilgun will be in attendance at the ceremony, according to an announcement on the city's website.

According to the city website, the area is "a premier year-round passive recreational area for the citizens of Woburn."
