$5.2 Million Budget Endorsed by Woburn School Committee

The school budget includes many new initiatives.

The Woburn School Committee endorsed a budget of $54.2 million for the upcoming fiscal school year, adding many new initiatives, reported the Daily Times Chronicle.  The budget calls for a 5.1 increase over the FY2014 budget.

If Mayor Scott Galvin rejects the budget, which is over the spending cap he set, the local education board will discuss the proposal, said the Chronicle. Superintendent Mark Donovan proposed similar increases, some of which were trimmed by the committee.

A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in the Joyce Middle School conference room at 7 p.m. Residents can also obtain a copy of the budget from the Woburn Public Library and the school department's central business office.
