Woburn Public Schools Remain Closed Friday

Superintendent of Schools Mark Donovan made the announcement via social media on Wednesday night.

Updated on Thursday at 10:15 p.m.: Just a reminder that Woburn schools will closed on Friday after shutting down Thursday as well.

Woburn students will return to classes following winter break on Monday.

Original Story: With up to a foot of snow possible by Friday's end, Woburn Superintendent of Schools Mark Donovan announced on Wednesday night that the school will remain closed for the next two days.

"After considering all of the factors in play, I have decided to close schools on both Thursday and Friday," Donovan tweeted just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday. "Happy New Year, Twitter followers."

Earlier in the evening, Donovan informed his followers that he was watching the forecast carefully and added that he would make his announcement on Twitter first.

Snow is expected to begin after midnight on Thursday, and will likely remain in the area until Friday afternoon.
