Brackets Unveiled for Playoff Bound Tanner Teams

The MIAA released its postseason schedule over the weekend, and it includes several Woburn High School teams.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association revealed its postseason brackets over the weekend, and four Woburn High School teams are among those that will begin action in the upcoming days.

Girls Hockey Favored in Division 1

The Lady Tanners are the No. 1 seed in Division 1 girls hockey, expected by many to skate their way to a state title.

Woburn earned a first round bye and will take on either Winthrop/Lynn or Andover in the first round. The date, time, and location of that game are yet to be determined.

Boys Hockey Awaits Assignment

Woburn mounted a strong regular season showing, but won't be Super 8 bound. As a result, the team does not yet have its assignment for the Division 1 tournament.

The MIAA hasn't posted the bracket, and likely won't do so until after the Super 8 play-in games, which are scheduled for Monday night.

Girls Basketball Hoping for First Round Upset

In the North Division 1 bracket, Woburn is the No. 12 seed. As a result, the lady Tanners will travel to face Central Catholic on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The winner of that game faces off against either Peabody or Methuen in the quarterfinal round. The date, time and location of that game are not yet posted.

Boys Basketball Also Ready for Duty

Woburn earned the No. 10 seed in the North Division 2 boys basketball bracket. In the first round the Tanners will travel to play Concord-Carlisle. Tip off is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The winner of that game will face either No. 2 North Andover, No. 15 Latin Academy or No. 18 Chelsea.
