Lady Tanners Travel for Quarterfinal Soccer Match Up

The Woburn High School girls soccer team thumped its first round opponent to advance to Tuesday's tilt.

The postseason is where the toughest competition is supposed to come. But for the Woburn High School girls soccer team, the first round was no contest. The quarterfinals, on the other hand, figure to be a little tighter.

Woburn entered the North Division 2 playoffs as the No. 10 seed, and on Sunday against No. 7 O'Bryant, the Tanners ran away with a 7-0 victory that was the second most lopsided result in the entire bracket. Only No. 14 Dracut's 9-0 win over No. 3 Boston Latin Academy was a bigger blowout.

Thank to that win, Woburn will travel to kick off against second-ranked Beverly at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner will advance to the semifinals against either Concord-Carlisle or Dracut.

The Lady Tanners earned the No. 10 seed thanks to a 10-5-3 regular season while Beverly snagged the No. 2 ranking with a 14-3-2 mark. The two teams did not meet during the regular season.
