Pop Warner B Team Shut Out on Sunday

Reading team defeats Sgt. Connolly Trojans.

In this past week the Sgt. Paul Connolly Trojan Woburn B Team lost their first game of the season to Reading.  It was hard to watch just as much as this was hard to write.  Reading started by taking control of the ball at the 27-yard line. Woburn’s Defense of Matthew Pollard, Luis Germano, Ryan Getherall, Ryan Chillemi, Charles O’Connor, Jesus Pizarro, David Lennon, Andre Eller, Nick Romeo and Tyler Hayden were definitely kept extremely busy and alert.  Colin Butcher, Luther Thiogene and Andrew Nicholas made some great tackles along the field in superb efforts of trying to stop Reading from gaining yards. Scott Peary made a superb tackle at the 39-yard line.  Reading just kept gaining yards and once they got to the 3-yard line, they scored a Touch down.  The P.AT.  was good.  Bringing Reading to the lead by 7-points.

Reading kicked off and recovered the ball at the 36-yard line.  Woburn was back on defense with some more help from Nelson Claude, Colin Butcher, and Kyle Chorlton and Ryan Daniell, all making superb tackles against Reading, yet again not being able to stop them from gaining yards as Reading scored another Touch down.  The P.A.T. was good.  This gave Reading a lead of 14-points.

Reading kicked off and Jacob Walthall made a controlled catch and the returned at the 50-yard line.  Woburn’s offense of Joseph O’Brien, Tommy Nye, Nic Pascuccio, Mateus Nunes, Ahmed Hmina, Joseph Silverhus, Marlon McCoy, Luke Scaramozzino, and John Golles were finally able to try make something happen and just couldn’t.  The Woburn crowd was going wild to get the boy’s spirits lifted and they were into it!  Colin Butcher carried the ball to the 35-yard line.  Jake Bridge took it for another 4-yards. Reading took over on the 34-yard line.  Andrew Nicholas blasted on top of Reading as they made a pass to the 15-yard line.  Woburn need to hold Reading for mere seconds for the half to end and it just couldn’t be done as Reading made a Touch down pass.  The P.A.T. was good.  The half ended with Reading in the lead by 21-points.

At the beginning of the second half, Kyle Chorlton carried the ball to the 46-yard line with good blocking by Ryan Chillemi, Nic Pascuccio and John Golles.  Kyle Chorlton dug right thru field for a 1st down.  Kyle Chorlton tried with all his might and the ball went back to Reading for the take-over.  Woburn’s defense did their best for the rest of the game to stop Reading from scoring again and they did what they set out to do.   Woburn’s Colin Butcher, Nelson Claude, Jake Bridge, Kyle Chorlton, and Tyler Hayden really tried to get a score on the board.  It just couldn’t happen.  This was the first loss for the team but I must say that they tried and if any of you are reading this, know you can’t win them all, yet if you lose a game with dignity you will always be a winner (from the B Team Crowd Support on the Bleachers).  As we all saw you were all winners that game and good luck next game.  Final score Woburn 0 – Reading 21.
