Woburn’s defense started the day on the field and must have heard the Gulde Insurance Agency cheerleading squad, “Defense get that ball!”, for they forced Lexington to turn over the ball after only six plays. Three plays later, Woburn’s Ryan Ludwig took the ball 44 yards to the endzone. Kris Chiary’s kick after the score was good, making the score 8-0.

The Raiders went four and out, giving Woburn the ball on their own 30-yard line. With the help of great blocking by David Langlois, Matt Qualey, James Taft, Peter Cole, and Jonathan Avery, Ludwig once again took the ball down the field for a touchdown. Chiary’s kick, with the help of a fortunate bounce off the crossbar, added two more points to the scoreboard.

Woburn’s defense continued to impress and managed to get the ball back to its offense once more before the end of the second quarter. Impressive runs by Ryan Qualey, Dylan Thompson, and Ryan Ludwig moved the ball to the 8-yard line. With strong blocking up front, John Lafferty was able to take the ball into the endzone for six points. Chiary’s kicked his third through the uprights for an additional two points for Woburn.

Early in the third quarter, Woburn’s offense faced a 3rd and 4 on Lexington’s 20-yard line. Quarterback Ryan Qualey threw a perfect pass to Jared Zolubos, who then ran the ball into the endzone.

Woburn’s defensive squad, including Peter Cole, Jonathan Avery, Jared Zolubos, Dylan Thompson, Emanuel Polanco, Ryan Qualey, Evan Vienneau, Rennie Cyprian, James Taft, Matt Qualey, Ryan Ludwig, John Lafferty, David Langlois, Colin Harkins, Cash Kingstad, Ryan Dever, and Kris Chiary, combined for six sacks and a fumble recovery.
