Two weeks remain in the winter sports regular season, and several Woburn High School teams hope to continue their campaign for at least another game by finding playoff success.
No Tanner teams are in action on Monday, but the week gets rolling with a pair of Woburn basketball teams hitting the hardwood on Tuesday.
The boys basketball team, sitting in first place in the Middlesex League with a playoff berth already sealed up, travels to take on Belmont at 7 p.m. The Lady Tanners, meanwhile, are two wins away from a playoff appearance with two games to go. They host Belmont at 7 p.m. in a critical tilt.
On Wednesday, the Woburn team having the best season is in action. The girls hockey team, in first place with a 13-0-3 mark, skates against second place Reading in what should be a high level contest. Puck drops at 6 p.m. in Reading.
Speaking of high level contests, the boys team will have its hands full on Wednesday as well. The Tanners travel to Reading to square off in a battle of heavyweight programs, taking to the ice at 8 p.m.
The Woburn girls hockey team is the only team in action Thursday on Valentine's Day. Belmont plays host to the Tanners beginning at 5 p.m.
Basketball's regular season comes to a close on Friday night for both the boys and girls teams. The girls team welcomes first place and unbeaten Reading to town at 7 p.m. while the boys team will have a tough task on the road against second place Reading at the same time.
