When Does the Winter Sports Season Start in Woburn?

Following the football Super Bowl games at the beginning of the month, fall sports season is officially in the books. And that means one thing - the winter teams are up next.

So when does the 2013-14 season begin for Woburn Memorial High School teams?

The boys varsity track and field team opened its season on Thursday at Harvard University, according to USA Today High School sports, and another Tanner team started over the weekend.

Woburn's boys wrestling team had a meet scheduled for Saturday at Concord-Carlisle High School.

This week the boys and girls track teams take part in a meet on Tuesday at 5 p.m. while the wrestling team gets back to work on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Dec. 23, the girls hockey team opens its season against Notre Dame Academy, while the girls varsity basketball team hosts Dracut to open the year on Friday, Dec. 27.

On New Year's Day, the boys hockey team has a scheduled game versus Lexington High School in its first tilt, while the gymnastics team is slated for action on January 2.

Among the last teams to start their season is the Woburn boys basketball team, which tips off on Friday, Jan. 3, against Lexington.
