Tackle it Tuesday: Fall Decorating Tips for Inside the Home

Bailey Group Real Estate's tips for fall decorating in the home.

With summer temperatures fading and cooler temperatures moving in warm up your home with fall accents. Here are some ideas to bring back the warmth in your home that are inexpensive and do not take too much time.

Enhance your home with fall colors. Red, gold, yellow, orange and burgundy are great colors to warm up the home during cooler days. If you are willing to take on the task, painting a room with a bright fall color is a great way to embrace the fall; even painting one wall for an accent enhances the room. If painting if too great a task, change window treatments. Add heavier fabrics in rich fall colors and get rid of the light airy curtains. It will not only be pleasing to the eye, but to the wallet too. The heavy curtains will help block window drafts and keep in warm air. Changing up throw pillows, picture frames and decorative candles is another a simple way to autumn-ize a room.

Next step, switch up scents. Put away those summery scents and add in scents like pumpkin, warm vanilla, and cinnamon. Pick up some small pumpkins, gourds and Indian corn from local farm stands or grocery stores and place them around the living rooms, kitchen, etc. Head over to a craft store and create a colorful centerpiece using fall flowers and leaves.
