2014 at Tokyo Joe's Woburn

Hello all.  I just wanted to take a few minutes and wish everyone a very special holiday, whatever you may celebrate.  As we close in on the New Year, I know most people are thinking about what they are going to do next year, and making those dreaded RESOLUTIONS! I wanted to take a few minutes and share with you our plans for 2014 at Tokyo Joe's.
2014 will be a whole new step for us.  There will be a tremendous number of changes for us and our programs.  First off we will begin operating on a full time basis.  Effective, January 6th, we will be offering classes during the day as well as in the evening.  These will include Kickboxing Classes (which are being updated in the New Year,) a Mom and Me class for kids age 2-4, and our Tai Chi Program, along with private lessons and personal training sessions.
We will also be expanding our community service programs.  This past year we achieved our goal of 20 kids safety program presentations, and in2014 we expect to increase that number.  We will also be hosting programs monthly such as our Bully Buster and Lil Iguana programs and our Women's Self Defense and Meditation classes.  We will also be working to promote our Kids Safety Day again this summer.  In addition to our Thanksgiving Food Drive, we will also be hosting Fund Raising Programs for various local community organizations and charities as well.
I am very excited to see our Black Belt Club and SWAT Teams growing and doing extremely well.  This January, you will begin seeing these students in the beginner classes helping bring the beginners up to speed, and we will begin transitioning the BBC to a full Tournament Team over the summer for any who are interested in competing.
Finally, the Kids and Adults Karate Programs will continue to be our jewel.  The beginner program will continue to build on the basics, working combinations and self defense techniques, and the advanced program will work on preparation for the Black Belt Test, with more advanced forms and self defense skills.  The adult program will expand further, with the resurection of Sparring Night, as well as more advanced self defense techniques including takedowns, throws and ground fighting, along with weapons.
Our main focus at the base of all of these programs is to expand and grow significantly over the next year.  We are continuing to train not only in the Martial Arts but in psychology, physiology and nutrition.  The true aim for the Martial Arts is to build self confidence and increase the focus and well being of the participants.  Our goal continues to be to make Tokyo Joe’s Woburn the premier location for kids safety and fitness in New England.  This will be that year.
