Woburn Patriots Defeated Chelmsford and Moved into the Playoffs!

This past week the Woburn Patriots, sponsored by Salem Five Insurance defeated Chelmsford in a game that would lead one of the teams to move on to the playoffs!

In the 1st half Woburn kicked off to Chelmsford to return to the 40yrd line.  Chelmsford fumbled and Alec Rollins dove on the ball as if someone dropped a bag of money.  Woburn had the ball as Luke Scaramozzino ever so gently tossed the ball to Nelson Claude as he ran like the dickens straight through the end zone for a TD.  Eri Ibrahimi attempted the kick and it was no good.  Woburn 6 – Chelmsford 0. 

Woburn kicked off to Chelmsford to return to the 51yrd line.  Woburn’s defense of Nic Pascuccio, Jimmy Lane, David Unobskey, John Golles, Tommy Nye, Henry Johnson, Joe Siverhus and Jacob Casey worked together at keeping Chelmsford’s offensive line at bay.  Darren Sanderson made two back-to-back smashing tackles in a row that would double anyone’s pleasure.  Chelmsford punted on the last play for Benjamin Quint to snag the ball and bring it to the 50yrd line. Woburn’s offense of Julian Jolicoeur, Louis Clifford, Joel Cora, Elijah Kennedy-Williams, Allan Martin, Francis Beckford Jr. and Luther Thiogene did a superb job blocking.  Ryan Getherall carried the ball to the 40yrd line.  The ball was beautifully passed to Jimmy Lane right in the end zone for a TD.  The P.A.T was no good.  Woburn 12 – Chelmsford 0.

Woburn kicked off for Chelmsford to return as a mob of Woburn’s defense trampled them at the 40yrd as if it were a scene from the movie the “Outsiders”.  Jimmy Lane made a sweeping tackle with help from Nic Pascuccio.  Nothing like a little help from your friends’ folks!  Chelmsford attempted a pass and it was incomplete with a huge thanks to Alec Rollins, who tipped it away.  Chelmsford attempted another pass as Tommy Nye slithered his way in front of Chelmsford’s receiver and intercepted the ball right at the red zone.  Woburn now had control of the ball..pheww!  Within minutes Woburn fumbled and Chelmsford pig piled on top of the ball seeking a chance for control and got it.  Chelmsford took the ball to the 20yrd line and was taken down by a cluster of Woburn’s defense.  Woburn took over on downs on the 10yrd line.  Nelson Claude swept around the corner and ran to the 35yrd line as he was forced out of bounds.  Woburn fumbled.  Chelmsford took over on the 39yrd line.  Nelson Claude made a nice bear hug tackle and quickly tossed the carrier to the side as if he was done playing with his prey.  Benjamin Quint took down the carrier at the 20yrd line.  Nelson Claude and Darren Sanderson tag teamed at the 15yrd line.  Julian Jolicoeur made a body tossing tackle at the 12yrd line.  Darren Sanderson made a shoestring tackle at the 10yrd line.  Woburn kept making tackles and Chelmsford kept gaining several yards.  Chelmsford decided to pass at the 2 - minute warning and got a TD.  The P.A.T was no good.  Woburn 12 – Chelmsford 6.  The half was over with little else happening.

The 2nd half started off with Chelmsford kicking off for Alec Rollins to swoop the ball and return to the 35yrd line.  Ryan Getherall carried the ball with confidence with a whopping 15yrd run to the 20yrd line.  Nelson Claude took the ball the rest of the way as he swept to the right for a TD.  Eri Ibrahimi attempted a kick and it was no good.  Woburn 18 – Chelmsford 6.

Woburn kicked off for Chelmsford to return to the 25yrd line with a clanking tackle on the play by Julian Jolicoeur.  Luther Thiogene tossed the ball carrier aside like he was a piece of dirty laundry in a pile of clean clothes at the 30yrd line.  Tommy Nye was in complete control and made a clean tackle.  Chelmsford got past Woburn’s defense and shot through the end zone for a TD.  The P.A.T was good.  Woburn 18 – Chelmsford 13.

Chelmsford kicked off to Woburn for Henry Johnson to make the return the 32yrd line.  Nelson Claude took the ball from Luke Scaramozzino and ran that ball as if he was running with a bomb ready to explode and explode it did, right into the end zone with a TD.  The pass for the extra point was incomplete and the P.A.T was no good.  Woburn 24 – Chelmsford 13.

Chelmsford had the ball at the 32yrd line.  Jacob Casey made a jolting tackle at the 45yrd line.  Woburn took possession of the ball as Luke Scaramozzino passed to Ryan Getherall and it was complete.  Eri Ibrahimi ran the ball to the 10yrd line.  The ball was passed to Alec Rollins in the end zone for a TD.  Eri Ibrahimi attempted the kick and it was no good.  Woburn 30 – Chelmsford 13.  Eri  Ibrahimi intercepted on the last play with seconds left in the game for Woburn to win and move on to the play offs.  What a game it was!
