Pop Warner E1 Football game on 9/9/13

Woburn Pop Warner Mite-Mite E1 Football Team

On Sunday September 9, 2013, our Woburn Mite-Mites E1 Football Team took the field on opening day against Acton-Boxborough (AB).  The weather was cool and sunny it was a perfect day for football.  The mite-mites started out a little ruff but then ironed out the wrinkles and had a big stoppage on AB’s extra point attempt.  The attempt was blocked by Mitchell Riccardi (#57) and Jordan Branson (#7).  Once again the defense stepped up and held them to a 4 and out series when Joseph Siliva (#81) broke through their offensive line and caused a fumble, we got the ball back and the offense was able to go down the field and score their 1st touchdown of the game.

At halftime we were down 13-7.  Our defense led by Hannah Nowell(#2), Cedric Edwards (#9),  Hayden Laprade (#33), Xavier Etienne(#21), Devin Vieria(#41) and Brian Oliveira(#73) held AB to minimal yardage and no points in the 2nd half.  Our offense rolled passed AB defense twice and with two touchdowns in the 2nd half.  Overall our great offensive line helped Xavier Etiennce (#21) to run for 3 touchdowns and he ran for over 140 yards.  On all three extra point attempts Jordan Branson (#7) was successful and he ran for over 20 yards for the game.  Jordan Branson (#7) also had a great pass to Devin Viera (#41) for 5 yds.

The Woburn Trojans E1 Mite-Mites had a great opening day with a great win over Axton-Boxbourgh. The Trojans won with a final score of 21-13.  Hip Hip Hooray for our Mite-Mites.  Also let’s give a big Woburn Trojan cheer to our sponsor Dole & Bailey.  Also, thank you parents for your support.  See you Sunday against Wakefield @8 am at the Woburn High School.
