Woburn E1 Mite-Mites fell short in Lexington

Woburn E1 Mite-Mites fell short in Lexington

On September 22, 2013 the Woburn E1 Mite-Mites fell short on a cool, wet, damp Sunday morning in Lexington, MA.  Our team captains Jordan Branson (#7), Wicks Edwards (#9), Devin Vieira (#41), Mathew Mercer (#63), and Brian Oliveira (#65).  Hannah Nowell (#53) did a remarkable job at center due to the weather being cool and the field being wet; this caused the football to be slippery but she was able to have great control of her snaps and snap the football without any troubles.  The opposing team was stunned because two of our little guys Joseph Silva (#81) and Tyler Gillardon (#23) along with Matthew O’Connor (#73) were getting through their offensive line and causing pressure on Lexington’s quarterback.  We want to welcome back Zach Steiner (#31), he was a substantial part of our defense this week.

During the 1st half our offense which was lead by Jordon Branson (#7), “X” Etienne (#21), Devin Vieira (#41) and Hayden Laprede (#33).  On our 1st drive of the game “X” Etienne (#21) ran for a 56 yard touchdown; we were successful on our extra point by a pass from Hayden Laprede (#33) to Devin Vieira (#21).  Our second possession of the first half Jordon Branson (#7) had a huge breakout run for 31 yards.  Our defense was producing some great tackles by Matthew O’Connor (#73), Hayden Laprede (#33), “X” Etienne (#21), Wicks Edwards (#9) and Jordon Branson (#7).  Woburn was down 14-7 at halftime.

During the 2nd half our defense continued to have some great tackles by Justin Nicolas (#2), Devin Vieira (#41), and Hannah Nowell (#53).  The Woburn E1 had a big stand on Lexington’s extra point attempt; this attempt was denied by Devin Vieira (#41).  Our offense had a total of 130 yards; which was led by “X” Etienne (#21) with 126 yards rushing with two touchdowns.  Unfortanely, the E1 Mite Mites fell short this week, final score was 27-19. Let’s give a shout out to Coach Ryan for coming up with some creative play calling on offense.  Hip Hip Hooray for our Mite-Mites.  Also let’s give a big Woburn Trojan cheer to our sponsor Dole & Bailey.  Also, thank you parents for your support.  See you Sunday in Reading @8 am.
