The Six Star Market opened on south Main Street during the summer of 2010. This new store was established by Dimitri, who came to America from Bulgaria. Dimitri decided to open up a small grocery store that sells imported foods from Europe as a service to those looking for familiar tastes, and to bring new flavors to others. There are foods from Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey, Poland, Greece, Italy and Macedonia, among others.
Just like any grocery store, the Six Star Market has a dairy selection, with cheeses and yogurts made from goat, sheep, and cow's milk; a meat section with different kinds of sausages, pepperoni, kebapcheta, hard salamis, sudjuk, chicken salamis and lukhanka; and preserves made by the internationally known Koska, Deroni, Vava and Zergut specialty imports. The Six Star Market also has frozen foods, including prepared fillo pies made by Yapuya that are filled with feta cheese, spinach and pumpkin; pre-made pastas, like ravioli; and Karnache spiral sausage. There are also many different types of snack foods and juices. The candy counter doesn't have any Hershey bars or traditional American sweet-tooth satisfiers, instead having Milka brand chocolate bars and other mouth-watering wafer treats.
Besides grocery items, customers can purchase newspapers, lottery, Blue Bunny ice cream snacks and fresh cups of coffee. Dimitri is happy to assist his customers and to explain foods that may be foreign to them. The store is open seven days a week from morning until evening. He welcomes all to come and see what the store has to offer and explore new tastes.
