Allene B. (Gibson) Seminatore Trahan, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away at the age of 78 on Thursday, May 16. She was the loving longtime companion and wife of Edmund Trahan.

Bombing Victim Lu Lingzi Remembered Back Home

The Chinese national was studying statistics at Boston University. She was killed in Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon.

A Chinese newspaper has identified the third Boston Marathon bombing victim as Lu Lingzu, a Boston University graduate student, according to the Associated Press. Lu, from Shenyang, China, was studying statistics in Boston. A second Chinese national and BU student, Zhou Danling, was also injured in the blasts. She is listed in stable condition in a Boston hospital, according to Chinese officials. Lu's death has led to an outpouring from friends, family and concerned neighbors in China. Lu's Sina Weibo page already has 20,000 comments from shocked and upset friends (Sina Weibo is a Chinese social media service that combines Twitter- and Facebook-like features).  A former neighbor in China was elegiac when talking about Lu on his Sina Weibo …

Rex Trailer Dies at 84; Share Your Memories, Photos

Boston TV icon hosted a children's show in the 1950s-1970s. Do you have any photos from back in the day?

    Rex Trailer, a Boston TV icon who had been recovering from pneumonia recently, has died. Trailer hosted “Boomtown,” a children’s show with a Western theme on WBZ-TV from 1956-1974.  How did a Western cowboy make his mark in Boston? According to Wikipedia, his corporate overlords gave him a choice of Cleveland or Boston. But he's remembered for more than his cowboy get-up. The Boston Globe wrote in an editorial last year: Kids adored Trailer’s rodeo tricks. But mostly they adored him for his consistent kindness and competence. Trailer was 84. OBITUARY: Rebecca Resendez, 17

Woburn Memorial High School student will be laid to rest in Utah.

  REBECCA RESENDEZ, 17, of Woburn, passed away on Dec. 18, 2012, in Malden, MA. Rebecca was born on May 6, 1995.  Her parents are Annette Alford of Woburn, Ma. and the late Frank Resendez of California. A visitation was held in Woburn, Ma. on Dec. 29 and a memorial service was held in Valencia, Ca. on Jan. 2. Internment will be in Utah. Rebecca will be greatly missed by each of her family and many friends.  Her time here was much too short and now we must place her in God’s Loving Hands.   Marguerite F. "Cindy" (Sumner) Nichols passed away peacefully at home amongst her loving family Friday, January 4th. The beloved wife of the late Charles "Chick" Nichols, was seventy four years of age. Born in Stoneham she was one of seven children born to the late Albert and Marguerite (Nolan) Sumner. Raised and educated in Woburn, she was a graduate of Woburn High School, Class of 1955. Following high school she continued on with her education and in 1959 graduated from Lynn Hospital School of Nursing. In that same year she married her high school sweetheart "Chick" Nichols to whom she was devoted to for over the next thirty eight years.   A memorial visitation will be held Saturday for a Woburn teen killed in a recent car accident. Rebecca A. Resendez (May 6, 1995—Dec. 18, 2012) was killed after a fiery car crash in Malden before Christmas. She was 17 years old. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave. in Saugus. According to her obituary, Rebecca was the loving daughter of Annette Alford of Woburn and the late Frank Resendez. She is survived by her grandmother: Louise Alford of California; her siblings: Chris Rodriguez, Brenda Straugh, Michael Rodriguez, David Rodriguez and Denise Burke (of California) and Frank and Richard Resendez, both of Woburn; and many nieces and nephews. Neighbor Brigade Co-Founder Pam Washek Loses Battle with Cancer

Pam Washek died Sunday, Dec. 2.

  A wife and mother and volunteering icon has died after a 10-year battle with cancer. Pam Washek, the co-founder of the Wayland Angel Food Network (now the Neighbor Brigade), passed away Dec. 2, according to an obituary published on Boston.com. Today, Woburn's chapter of Neighbor Brigade is just one of more than 30 in the state of Massachusetts. There is also a chapter operating in Nashua, N.H., the only non-Massachusetts chapter at this time. The Woburn chapter is operated by Jenna Jankowski and was formed in 2011. Washek and fellow Wayland resident Jean Seiden came together in the midst of their individual cancer treatments to found, in 2003, the Wayland Angel Food Network, a group dedicated to organizing neighbors to provide meals for …

OBITUARY: John J. Lennon, WWII Vet

John Lennon died at 88 years old.

  A Waltham World War II veteran recently passed away at age 88, according to the Boston Herald. John J. Lennon, a Waltham resident and Newton native, died on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Winchester Hospital, according to the Herald.  Lennon, after returning from World War II, worked at the Raytheon company in Waltham. He is survived by Karen Pontonio of Waltham and Woburn resident Marianne Milner, David Lennon of Waltham and Michael Lennon, a Florida resident. His two sisters, Rita Lloyd and Phyllis Lennon of Woburn also survive him.  A funeral mass is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Sacred Hearth Church in Waltham on Tuesday, Oct. 23. He will be buried at Mt. Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
