The same suspect that recently committed five armed robberies, including one in Woburn, in the area attempted a sixth Sunday night at a Main Street convenience store in Stoneham, according to police.
The same suspect that recently committed five armed robberies, including one in Woburn, in the area attempted a sixth Sunday night at a Main Street convenience store in Stoneham, according to Stoneham Detective Christopher Dalis. At 9:21 p.m. on Veterans Day, police responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery at the C-Store, 41 Main St. in Stoneham. "(The) suspect brandished a handgun; however, did not get any cash," Dalis said. "Clerk did not mace the suspect but did throw a cup of 'chili powder' in his face." The suspect fled the store toward George Street, according to Dalis, and a Massachusetts State Police K-9 unit was called in. Since Oct. 30, five local businesses have been robbed at gunpoint, and police believe it's the same person each time.
Recently, five armed robberies have occurred at local businesses and police believe the suspect in each case is the same person. Since Oct. 30, five armed robberies—one at the DB Mart convenience store in Stoneham, another at Sunset Tanning in Stoneham, Richdale Convenience in Melrose, Dairy Barn in Winchester and the DB Mart in Woburn—have taken place, according to investigators. The suspect is described as being a white male, approximately 5-foot-8, wearing a black hat, black mask, black sweat shirt, black gloves, black running pants with a white stripe down the leg and black sneakers with white soles, according to Stoneham Detective Christopher Dalis. Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Main Street convenience store this morning. According to Det. Ralph Coakley of Woburn Police, the DB Mart at 221 Main Street, near Green Street, was robbed late Friday night by a suspect carrying a handgun. The 911 call came into police around 11 p.m. The suspect was wearing a mask and showed a handgun to the store clerk, demanding that the employee empty the cash drawer, said Det. Coakley. After taking an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot. Both Woburn Police and the Massachusetts State Police searched the area for the suspect, with negative results.
